Sun Eyes

Sun eyes was a series of paintings that i developed for my first solo show at balcony gallery. This body of work explored the powerful symbolism of seeing and being seen, the mystery surrounding the gaze and the beauty of empathy threw it. The name “sun eye” came from an inspiration from little paleolitic sculptures “idols” that radiated like suns, from there i decided to do an homage to those little 3 dimensional pieces as they are the first known depiction of the eye in arts, from there it only made sense to use the circular format due to its similarity to the sun and the important symbolism of the circle
