ABOUT ME
Vera Kace, is a Lisbon based visual artist who focus in oils and watercolours. with background and degrees in graphic design, painting and drawing. Lately her main focus is on teaching painting and taking a certificate on junguian analytical psychology course. Junguian psychology, symbology and myth interpretation are central tools on her approach to painting and serve as a tool to her classes and mentorships where students are taught to unlock their creative self through traditional painting tecniques and the power of Archetypes and mythology. In 2020 she had her first solo show with Balcony gallery and later on a few collective exhibitions in Hungary, China and across Portugal.
ABOUT MY WORK
My works usually explore themes of introspection through the figure. Nature and the theatrical aspect of life play a central role on my narratives, you can find that influence on my floating series project where i longed to explore our connection and surrender to nature and in my latest body of work “paper cut dreamlands” which dives on the theatrical aspect of the unconscious through dreams, philosophical insights and self portraiture as a way of individuation while exploring our collective identity and nature.
My fascination (in this lastest body of work) for the spectacle serves as a critique for this perfomative “society of the spectacle” but also as a pathway to transform the viewer through small scale intimate theatrical works that not only ask to be seen up close but also to be reflected upon.
